Completely Free

TSI is the only completely free summer medicine and science program for high school students.

Short But Intense

The time commitment is 15-20 hours per week, but the program is only six weeks long; you can take part in a full research experience and still have time for other pursuits during your summer.

Highlight Your Interests

TSI research papers can be submitted with college applications to impress admissions officers and further highlight your interest in STEM. Additionally, select papers are published in a Talaria journal.

WHY

Apply?

Talaria Summer Institute provides numerous benefits for the young aspiring scientist. Below are just a few examples on why TSI is the perfect way to spend your summer:

Develop Your Interests

TSI helps students further identify what niche of medicine and science they are interested in.

Build Your Network

Medicine and science experience is not the only benefit of TSI—with many weekend events and functions, TSI gives you the opportunity to connect with other female or genderqueer identifying high school students near you.

Your Research Interests Start Here

TSI can be used as research experience to apply to selective summer programs or cold email professors for internships.

TSI provides numerous more benefits, and you can read about them from our past participants here.

Please note: While TSI will prioritize admitting under-represented minorities and low income individuals, you do not need to fall into either category to apply.

Gain Life-Long Connections

Because all mentors come from local universities, many TSI participants are able to keep in contact with their mentors after the program, and some even turn this relationship into a year-long internship.

Hear From Professionals

TSI’s speaker events are an excellent networking opportunity for students to network with nearby professors and industry professionals.

Mentors

The majority of TSI mentors are female or genderqueer.
