About Me

Talaria has given me the opportunity to conduct a research and to have the guidence I needed. Talaria has changed my impression of research. Research does not only involve a literature review but can also include research that helps develop products that people can use.

Research Experience

In the first 1-2 weeks of the program, I wasn't sure what direction my research was going in. I didn't know what I should be researching and how I should be organizing the information I obtained. Having my mentor guiding me through this process helped me slowly become confident in my project. Throughout the program, I became more confident in my project and had a clear idea of what I needed to complete for my project. When unsure and confused, I knew I could reach out to my mentor and get guidance on what to do. After participating in Talaria, I enjoyed researching and am considering pursuing research in college. This opportunity to understand research allowed me to get drawn to research.

Mentorship Experience

I enjoyed working with my mentor. We would meet twice a week to discuss my project and how it was going. My mentor provided me with videos, papers, and examples to help me with my project, writing my report, and giving my presentation. At the meetings, we would also talk about what we had been doing, and she would talk to me about her research and what she had been working on.

Favorite Part of Talaria

My favorite part about participating in Talaria is being able to conduct research in an area I am interested in and having a mentor to guide me through the process. Since I have little to no experience with conducting research and writing a research paper, knowing I have someone I can go to who is an expert in this helped me a lot. Being on the Discord server, I saw that other people were k-pop fans or enjoyed Asian dramas. It was amazing getting to know what other people from around the world were interested in and seeing that we shared things in common.

Who I Recommend Talaria For

I would recommend Talaria to students who would like to explore research and weren't given the opportunity. Students who are unsure if they want to conduct research and if research is something for them.

Advice for Future Applicants

Talaria is a great opportunity to explore research and your field of interest. After participating in Talaria, I learned a lot about research and developed an interest in a topic I had never considered studying. You may be interested in your research project and want to continue studying it.
